Master of Public Health
The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is the fundamental professional degree required for many supervisory and managerial positions in public health. It is recommended for others. Most full-time students take approximately 18–24 months to complete the degree program. The MPH degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 45 semester credit hours.

Master of Science
The Master of Science (MS) degree signifies academic accomplishment in a public health discipline and is ideal for those who plan to pursue careers in academia and research. Most full-time students take at least two years to complete the degree program. The MS degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 36 semester credit hours.
Dual-Degree Programs
Dual-degree programs at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health are designed to complement the coursework between the two degrees, with some specified classes counting toward both degrees. These programs enable some students to complete the two degrees in a shorter time period rather than completing each separately. UTHealth Houston School of Public Health collaborates with many universities to ensure that public health education is available to professionals across different industries.
Accelerated Masters
UTHealth Houston School of Public Health accelerated master’s programs provide undergraduate students the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree and a graduate certificate in public health at the same time. Following the successful completion of their undergraduate degree and graduate certificate, students have the opportunity to apply their certificate coursework towards a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.
