PUTTING COMMUNITIES FIRST
The Brownsville location pairs exceptional classroom experience with critical field work, providing a context that reveals the realities of working with communities limited in their access to health resources, education and services. We emphasize the importance of understanding and connecting with the people we work with. Guided by expert faculty, you’ll be expected to build relationships with local organizations and leaders to develop common goals, establish capacity and create sustainable change together. Our students join multidisciplinary research projects that grapple with chronic and infectious illnesses prevalent in the valley, meaning you can help improve the lives of neighbors, friends, family and coworkers while still enrolled in school.
