Master of Public Health
Overview
The healthcare management and policy program provides an overview of the intricacies and dynamics of health systems, a close examination of the operations of health services organizations, and an analysis of the impact of policy on health systems and population health. Students train to become leaders with critical managerial competencies focusing on analysis, communication, strategy, and financial expertise. Graduates of the healthcare management program often pursue careers in administrative and executive roles to further support health service delivery, regulation, operations, supply chain, and finance.
The Master of Public Health in Healthcare Management is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in management in an interdisciplinary public health environment and a basis for understanding key managerial functions within the broad spectrum of public health systems. Students gain an appreciation of all aspects of management, including organizational theory, finance, operations management, law, and strategy, which will help to improve organizational and community decision-making. A distinctive characteristic of this healthcare management degree program is the recognition of the importance of linking private-sector healthcare institutional management with public-sector healthcare management and related community initiatives.

Admission Requirements
Healthcare Management MPH candidates must meet the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health’s general admission requirements.
Program Requirements
The MPH program requires students to complete 45 credit hours as detailed in the Healthcare Management MPH degree planner. Most students complete the MPH program in 24-33 months. All students are eligible to elect to complete one or more graduate certificates in addition to required coursework.
