Master of Public Health
Overview
The health economics/health services research concentration is focused on investigating, designing, and better understanding the complexities of the healthcare field. Graduates with a degree in health economics and health services researchers are equipped to advance technologies and policies to function in ways that are effective, equitable, efficient, and ethical. Through rigorous coursework, research opportunities, and experiential learning, students gain expertise in health economics and evaluation, survey design, big data management, decision making, and policy. In addition to the primary curricula, students also choose two minors in public health. Our graduates are equipped to become leaders in academia, government, private industry, and non-profits, where they can further impact healthcare delivery and policy.
The MPH in Health Services Organizations program curriculum includes training in health economics, health services research, large healthcare data analyses, quantitative methods, public health, policy sciences, survey research, outcomes research, evaluation research, equities, and vulnerable populations, economic and social determinants of health, health administration, and ethical and legal aspects of public health.

Admission Requirements
Health Services Organizations MPH candidates must meet the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health’s general admission requirements.
Program Requirements
The MPH program requires students to complete 45 credit hours as detailed in the Health Services Organizations MPH degree planner. Most full-time students complete the MPH program in 18-24 months. All students are eligible to elect to complete one or more graduate certificates in addition to required coursework.
